Natalie
DeLave, a student of Notre Dame Preparatory High School
in Pontiac, Michigan, is the 2011 winner of the RWFM
Memorial Trust Scholarship. A resident
of Troy, Michigan she has been an active Republican volunteer for many years,
while still able to maintain a remarkable 4.35 GPA.
Her motto
of “If you want to make a difference, you have to get in the game,” shows how
committed she has been in actively promoting Republican candidates and issues. She organized other teens and helped put on
fundraiser events for Congressional candidate Rocky Raczkowski this past
summer. She is proud of her conservative
beliefs and is able to recruit others, despite sometimes strong opposition from
her peers.
In addition
to her rigorous schedule of AP classes, Natalie is also involved in varsity
cross country and track for her school.
She was also involved with musical theater, a member of the Pro-Life
Club and the National Honor Society.
She became
passionate about politics when she was among a select few to be nominated to
attend Girls State.
It is here that she learned how to work with different groups to problem
solve, never giving up on her strong conservative perspective.
She has
been described as a delightful young lady whose leadership style is
limitless. I’m sure we will be hearing
much more about her accomplishments as she moves on to study international
studies at the University
of Michigan next fall.
