Happy New Year: 2012 has arrived! As your new State President, I am looking foward to visiting old friends and meeting new ones in our Republican Women's Clubs throughout the State.
April Fool. It is actually April 2st, 2012 and we are just now getting our website updated. Don't ask. The started "busy" and I am excited to see the energy and membership increase in our Republican Women's Clubs this year.
I am certain that those who are politically aware have noticed that each new Administration, from the national down to the local levels, has its own flavor and focus. My personal passion, in regard to Republican Women, is to see that our Clus are recognized for the valuable service they perform for their local Republican Party and for their commjnity as a whole. We are comprised of the best-informed activists, tempered with ehe "special charm" of our gender. While I have not scientific date, I do believe Republican counties lucky enough to be supported by a Republican Women's Club are stronger for it. Therefore, my "mission statement" for the next two years is: greater Respect and Recognition for our Republican Women's organization. I encourage you to "advertise" yourself and to be proud of the work you do.
While I am at it, I would like to put in a good work for our Republican Women's State and National organization. It may seem to some that they exist in name only. Let me assure you, the minimal dues you pay to these entitites are well spent. Their officers and board members are well chosen as the most experienced and accomplished women in our organization and are a valuable resource; but only if you use them! THey have meaningful access to State and National Republican Party leadership and resources otherwise unavailable to local units. The NFRW website is a trove of useful information. Your State leadership is easger to advise with any questions and/or problems you might encounter. I encourage all of our members to participate in the periodic events of both organizations. You will leave these events with a better appreciation of our Federation.
In addition to this website, the Republican Women's Federation of Michigan is also on facebook: Republican Women's Federation of MIchigan (RWFM). You can ask to join this facebook group by creating your own facebook page and "friending" us. THis is an easy way to communicating the the State Federation and to share information and thoughts with other Michigan clubs. Our facebook Chair, Sandra McCormick, has put together an excellent Facebook User Manual that can be found under "documents" on the RWFM facebbok page. Our Legislative Chair, Megan Noland, will be posting explanations on "Michigan Legislative Issues of Interest" and is available to answer your Club's questions about other legislative initiative. Her goal is to be "accurate" about these topics without political bias; and she is good at it.
Have a great year and keep in touch.
Sincerely,
Sandra Kahn, President, RWFM
