Educational Memorial Trust Scholarship
The RWFM Educational Memorial Trust Scholarship was created in 2005 to honor the memory of deceased members of the organization. The creation of the scholarship also fulfills one of the key objectives of the Federation which is to educate and promote principles of the Republican Party. This $1,000 non-renewable scholarship is designed to be awarded each year to a Republican female senior high school student who plans to pursue a career in education, public administration, journalism or political science. Each year the name of the scholarship winner is inscribed on a plaque that is on display at the Secchia-Weiser Michigan Republican Center in Lansing.
Students interested in applying must fulfill the four criteria listed below. Applicants must submit the following information: Name, Home Address, Phone, Email address, School Name and Address, G.P.A., List of Extracurricular activities, two letters of reference (including one from a Republican leader who can support involvement with Republican activities) and a 500 word essay demonstrating how she meets the four criteria listed below.
Applicant Criteria:
ü Preference given to those majoring in education, public administration, journalism or political science
ü Actively promotes Republican values as a Michigan Citizen
ü Maintains at least a C grade average
ü Demonstrates leadership skills through involvement in civic, or school organizations which reflects strong leadership, values, ethics and morals
Completed application materials may be submitted through the RWFM webs site at www.rwfmi.org or to Pam Williams at pjb_williams@yahoo.com no later than April 1st.
Current information on the application deadline and each year's award recipients is also available on the website. The scholarship winner will be honored at the annual "Tribute to Women" dinner in May. The scholarship winner and an adult will be invited to attend as guests of the federation.
