Civil War Sesquicentennial Celebration for our States Flags
At our June 10, 2011 Board meeting, Vanessa Ferguson presented information on the “Save our Flags” program through the Department of Natural Resources. The flags were on display in the rotunda of the capitol. Today replicas are in the cases and the originals are being preserved at the Michigan Historical Center. In honor of the sesquicentennial celebration of the Civil War she suggested the RWFM investigate sponsoring a flag possibly from where the federation was started to sponsor the preservation of a flag for $1,000 as part of our NFRW “Caring for America” program.  The website to get additional information is http://www.hal.state.mi.us/mhc/museum/explore/museums/hismus/special/flags/flagsave.html.
